A single woman has publicly shamed a 'rude' man on Hinge after he told her not to pose with 'prettier girls' in dating app pics, so as to avoid leaving matches 'disappointed'

A singleton has called out a "rude" Hinge match who offered her some unwarranted advice about not posing with "prettier girls" in her profile photos. Emily Wallace, 25, received the lengthy message in response to a pic of her posing with her 23-year-old best friend Sarah, and was left stunned by the man's audacity.

The impertinent would-be date started off by apologising for "being rude", before going on to suggest that she should "avoid putting girls more beautiful than you in your first pic" as it would end up leaving men "disappointed". Thankfully, Emily is quite a "thick-skinned" individual, so her self-confidence wasn't too knocked. She is however concerned by how such uncalled-for comments could affect others.

Emily, from Queensland, Australia, said: "I'm pretty thick skinned so luckily I thought it was funny and kind of lighthearted and sent it to my best friend in the photo because it is not like I approached him or anything so I wasn't too offended by it.

"I think it could really affect someone though because the message wasn't open to opinion. I understand what he means about not having a group photo as my first picture on Hinge but the way he went about it was rude.

"I don't think I have ever had anyone message on Hinge where someone has been awful. People say weird stuff but I have never had anything that rude before."

The full message she received reads as follows: "You're beautiful enough. Sorry for being rude but tbf I would avoid putting girls more beautiful than you in your first pic. As men scroll they're disappointed and automatically swipe left. Again? Sorry."

According to Emily, his message was somewhat ironic given that one of the man's dating app prompts highlights the importance he claims to place on being kind. The prompt, which couldn't be more different from his message, reads "It feels affirming when others are successful through hard work, competence, and kindness."

Emily, who has been single for nearly seven years, says she opted not to match with the impolite suitor to continue the conversation because she just didn't think it would be worth it. She's since shared screenshots of the message via TikTok, where followers have been left appalled by the bloke's tactless approach.

The singleton, who works in admin and bookkeeping for an accounting firm, remarked: "It's so ironic. When I went through his photos, it had something about kindness, and I just thought 'omg he is just clearly trying to get some matches'. I didn't match with him. I didn't want to give him the time of day or satisfaction.

"I just made the TikTok video and I feel that has definitely given him a run for his money with the amount of views and comments it got. I didn't want to retaliate. Hopefully, he has seen it [the TikTok] and feels a bit sorry for himself."

A friend of the man has since apparently seen the video, and confronted him about the message, according to Emily, who says she was later told he had sent the message while drunk and had apologised for his behaviour.

Emily revealed: "I have had quite a few people message me that know him and a girl that works with him had asked him about it and apparently his reasoning is that he was drunk and feels bad about it and was just being honest.

"Behind a phone and computer screen people are a lot braver in saying stuff like that and I kind of see where he was coming from in the sense of it was the first picture on profile. Sarah thought it was very rude and there was no need for it. Quite a lot of other people have said this too."

Her TikTok followers have been left shocked by her match's actions, with one person deadpanning: "He's single….shocking."

A second person declared: "He's just mad because he couldn't get you if he wanted to!"

A third raged: "The audacity to say this before you've even swiped."
